Summary

This report presents the findings of a project focused on creating feed inventory and balance sheets for sub-national entities in Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, and Uganda. The livestock sector, with its immense potential to transform millions of livelihoods, faces significant growth constraints, with feed and fodder shortages being the most critical challenge. Access to reliable feed balance information is crucial for effective natural resource management, particularly during emergencies, and is vital for the sustainable development of the livestock industry. In collaboration with FAO and IGAD, this project champions for new feed assessment and balance tools and seeks to build capacity in these countries to establish and regularly update feed inventories and balances.
