Select pages from this publication

Summary

Child poverty is a pressing concern, with more than half of Kenyan children experiencing multidimensional poverty. This report proposes that increased allocation of resources to county governments is necessary to improve service provision and uplift the most vulnerable children. It also highlights the importance of efficiently utilising public finances, emphasising the need for evidence-based financial management and increased investments in sectors crucial to children’s well-being.

The Public Expenditure Tracking Survey (PETS) is an essential tool for identifying improvement areas and ensuring funds reach the intended beneficiaries.

This study calls for collective efforts among institutions, government agencies, and development partners to prioritise efficient public expenditure, ultimately creating a brighter future for Kenya’s children and fostering national development.
